🇭🇺 Our History

The history of Hungarians in Western Australia is much larger than the history of any single organisation.

It can be found in the people who settled here, the places where they gathered, the organisations they established, the newspapers and radio programs they produced, the businesses they operated, and the cultural traditions they maintained.

Some of this history is well documented. Some survives in photographs, newsletters, recordings and family collections. Other parts survive simply because somebody still remembers them.

The Magyars of WA History Project aims to bring these pieces together before they are lost.

Historical accuracy matters. Where possible, information will be supported by documentary or archival sources. Unverified information will be identified as a community recollection or research lead until further evidence becomes available.
