Help us understand Western Australia's Hungarian community
The Magyars of WA is intended to help connect, document and better understand the wider Hungarian diaspora of Western Australia.
Participation does not require membership of an organisation, attendance at particular events, or financial support.
Whether you have lived in Western Australia for decades, recently arrived, were born here to a Hungarian family, have Hungarian ancestry, or simply maintain a meaningful connection with Hungarian culture and community, there are different ways to participate.
Take part in community research
One of the project's priorities is to better understand the community itself.
Future surveys and consultations may explore questions such as:
-
Who makes up Western Australia's Hungarian diaspora?
-
How do people currently connect with Hungarian culture and community?
-
What activities, services and resources are valued?
-
What prevents people from participating?
-
What would younger and future generations find useful?
-
What role should digital resources play?
-
What should be preserved from the community's history?
-
What kinds of organisations or initiatives would people support in the future?
The purpose is not to predetermine the answers.
The evidence should help determine what comes next.

[ KEEP ME INFORMED ]
Participation comes before structure
The Magyars of WA does not assume that another organisation, committee or formal structure is necessarily required.
The first question is simpler:
What does the wider community actually want, need and support?
Community participation can help answer that question.
Participation is free. Financial support is not required. Financial contributions do not provide additional community status, membership rights or influence.
